Emory University’s Goizueta Marketing Strategy Consultancy (GMSC), now in its 22nd year, announced its clients for 2013. They include AT&T, Carnival Corporation, Coca-Cola Refreshments, Focus Brands, InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG), and Odwalla. Each client will work with a team of seven Goizueta MBA students over the course of the Spring 2013 semester to identify solutions for the unique marketing strategy issues they are facing.

“I am so excited about the clients we’ve recruited this year because the projects are truly unmatched in terms of the learning opportunity and practical experience they will provide the GMSC students.  The commitment level that each of our clients has demonstrated to the students is by far the most satisfying part of this experience for me so far.  Their enthusiasm towards making this partnership a success has been overwhelming,” said Co-Director of Client Relations, Brianne Marshall, 13MBA.

GMSC is a popular Management Practice elective taught by Assistant Professor in the Practice of Marketing, Reshma Shah and organized by a student leadership team composed of second year MBA students who participated in GMSC student teams the previous year. Some past projects include international product launches, the development of social media strategies, and identifying new market growth opportunities. Throughout its tenure, GMSC has maintained a strong relationship with many of the world’s leading firms.

Unlike consulting clubs and classes at many other top MBA programs, GMSC clients pay a fee to participate in the program. When asked about the quality of the GMSC clients this year, Professor Shah remarked, “Having been involved with GMSC for almost two decades I have seen a variety of different client organizations and management sponsors of projects each year. I can truly say that it is an honor to be working with as high a caliber of leading global organizations as we are fortunate to work with this year. We thank them for their trust.”

As students work with clients throughout the semester, they will continue to engage with members of the Goizueta faculty and industry experts to hone their recommendations. The teams will present their findings and recommendation on May 9, 2013 to a panel of prestigious judges from the fields of marketing and consulting. On behalf of the student leadership team, Co-Director of Client Relations, Nelie Zanca, 13MBA said, “We are thrilled about the opportunity to work with these clients – new and returning – this year. Each of these projects offers tremendous opportunity for the company and the students alike and we can hardly wait to see the results!”
