ATLANTA, February 2, 2021 – The 2020 recipient of Emory University’s Sheth Distinguished International Alumni Award is Dr. Haipeng Zhang, a 2000 Goizueta Business School MBA graduate. Zhang graduated from the Goizueta MBA program after receiving a doctoral degree from Peking Union Medical College. His combined medical and business background has awarded him global accolades for his work in health care reform in China and strategic business leadership.
After receiving his MBA from Goizueta, Zhang worked as a consultant with McKinsey and Company, rising to become a global partner. He left to launch CR Healthcare, today China’s largest corporate-managed hospital network.
Zhang is also a best selling author of both nonfiction and fiction. His business book and audio lecture, Getting Things Done, was named the bestselling business book in China in 2019 and 2020. He has written and published more than five novels. His latest, Beijing Beijing, is his first in English.

Zhang is the 19th recipient of the Sheth Distinguished International Alumni Award. Each year, the award is presented to a highly distinguished international Emory alumni who has made an impact in service to universities, governments, private sector firms, or non-governmental organizations. Honorees may have also made an outstanding contribution to humanity, science, art, or human welfare. The award is named for Jagdish Sheth and his wife Madhu. Sheth is a Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
He was nominated for the award by Quan Hu, Emory Alumni Association Chapter Leader in Shanghai.
