Emory University’s Goizueta Business School is playing a leading academic role in the launch of Detroit’s new $1 million Entertainment Innovation & Incubator Hub, a transformative initiative brought to life by global entertainment leaders Usher and Big Sean. Opened in February 2026 inside the Michigan Central Boys & Girls Club, the Hub aims to create a direct pathway into high-growth careers in the entertainment and creative economy for youth ages 14–24.

As a key education partner, Goizueta Business School designed the business and entrepreneurship curriculum that underpins the Hub’s workforce development model. Participants will learn about creative entrepreneurship, brand management, AI-driven business innovation, and entertainment venture strategy — equipping them not only to create content, but to build sustainable enterprises.

“The future of the entertainment industry belongs to creators who understand both craft and commerce,” said Gareth James, John H. Harland Dean of Goizueta Business School. “Through this partnership, we are extending Goizueta’s expertise in strategy, entrepreneurship, and emerging technology to help develop the next generation of principled leaders in the creative economy.”

The Entertainment Innovation & Incubator Hub will feature a virtual production studio, special effects lab, and creators lounge. As one of the flagship sites of Usher’s New Look Career Academy, the Detroit location represents a scalable national model that blends creative talent development with rigorous business education.

In addition to classroom learning, participants will gain access to mentorship networks and seed funding opportunities to launch their own ventures.

For Goizueta, the 15+ year partnership with Usher’s New Look Foundation reinforces its broader mission to expand access to business education while shaping emerging industries. By embedding business fundamentals directly into a creative incubator environment, the school is helping to redefine workforce development for the entertainment sector. The Detroit Hub represents a powerful convergence of creativity, technology, and business strategy — and underscores Goizueta’s commitment to preparing leaders who can innovate at the intersection of culture and commerce.
