- – enhanced the undergraduate program through the creation of professional development initiatives designed to build career readiness, communication, and leadership competencies.
- – reinforced the school’s position as a national leader in online business education.
- – expanded opportunities for working professionals through the launch of several new online master’s degree programs and two new locations in Miami and Jacksonville.
Prior to joining Warrington, Mitra spent 27 years at Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business, most recently as senior associate dean of programs and senior associate dean of faculty and research.
Mitra earned a PhD from the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Technology degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India.
Badia Ahad, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Emory University, announced the appointment following a robust search led by a 16-member search advisory committee.
“Dr. Mitra brings the wisdom, judgment, and strategic perspective that come from successfully leading complex academic organizations,” Ahad said. “His record of achievement reflects not only exceptional administrative skill, but also a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing higher education today.”
“I know his strategic vision, proven leadership experience, innovative spirit, and genuine warmth will position him to lead Goizueta with distinction.”
Mitra said he is honored to join Goizueta as dean and looks forward to helping shape its next chapter.
“Goizueta has a stellar reputation, a long history of research and program excellence, and is located in the most dynamic city and region in the country,” he said. “I believe it can be one of the best business schools in the world, and I am excited to be part of its future.”
